Our client acquired an overgrown site - surrounded on all four side by existing residential back gardens with access under an archway on Dumont Road.
It had a difficult planning history and relationship with the surrounding neighbours. The site in Stoke Newington, London Borough of Hackney had a previous application commenced (aside) but the construction was contrary to the approved application - was condemned by the planners and was subject to a demolition order
After establishing through discussion with the Enforcement officer that no alteration to the existing structure would be acceptable - we designed this Four house Mews scheme as a replacement - completed in 2014/15.
Our built scheme placed the communal living areas on the upper level and the bedrooms on the lower levels. The lower levels being naturally lit through light-wells and velux windows within lean-to extensions to maximise internal floor area.
Materials: Smeed Dean Islington Yellow Rustic brick, oak windows and panelling, Slate grey Kalzip standing seam.
